You can also follow these simple tips for a greener lifestyle:
* Don't like paying for gas? Walk, bike, or carpool when possible!
* Make 5 minute showers a goal. (and use a low pressure shower head)
* Pay bills online. If every house in the U.S. did this, we'd save 18 million trees a year!
* Use drying racks or a clothesline instead of using your dryer for every load of laundry.
* Donate clothes to Goodwill!
* Check online for recipes to make your own non-toxic and effective cleaning products!
* Support local produce at your local farmer's market.
* Plant a tree in your yard. It'll give you shade, it's good for the air, and it will increase your property value.
* Turn off the water while brushing those pearly whites! You can save 4 gallons of water a year by doing this.
* Combine errands instead of running them one at a time.
* Unplug unused chargers and appliances. They still use energy...and you're paying for it!
* Stop using disposable bags. Or at least, invest in ONE reusable bag.
* Provide scrap paper in your children's play area. They can draw without knowing (or caring) that it's on scrap paper

Artists of Steel Bridge Songfest also promote "greener" lifestyles:
 |
Victoria Vox is a member of 1% for the Planet and donates 1% of all
her sales to non-profits for the earth. Now living in downtown
Baltimore, near the train station, she has started to shift her
touring ways from driving solo in the car to hopping a bus or train.
In her 'hood, she's been seen digging in trash cans after plastic bags
and bottles, and getting them recycled. Vox has a new album out,
Exact Change, and the limited edition CD does use plastic, but it IS
recyclable; and the paper used is Rainforest Certified.
